Fundraising Stories
A Caring Community
Michelle prefers the small coffee shop down the street from her house over Starbucks. Every day before work she stops and picks up her Chai Tea Latte, and one day an idea came to her. She spoke to the barista, and the next day she came back with a flyer to hang on the wall and leaflets with her link on them for other people to take with them. At first, Michelle didn’t think a simple poster would get much response, but sure enough the money started coming in. Then, the manager talked to her one morning. He said he loved the idea and wanted to match the funds she raised on her own! Talk about a payoff!

Commuter Tax
To kick start his training, Jack decided he would start riding his bike to work in the morning. The first couple days were great, but soon he found there was always something getting in the way. Either the weather, or he was running late – it just seemed like he was driving more than biking despite his best efforts. To make up for this, and discourage himself from running late, he imposed a tax on himself: a contribution to his Wheel 2 Heal campaign every time he drove to work. Just his way of making his morning commute a ‘win or win’ situation.
An Earl Grey Tea Latte A Day….
Kelly loves her earl grey tea lattes from Starbucks. She thought for a while that she could give them up and she tried, but it didn’t last long. The lure of the vanilla syrup and the bergamot hit of caffeine brought her back every morning. So she flipped her thinking around. Every morning, she has her earl grey tea latte as the perfect start to her day. Every night, she donates “an earl grey tea latte” $ equivalent to her Wheel 2 Heal fundraising as the perfect way to end her day.
Save the Stamp
Irene sends out Christmas cards every year. She sends them out early. And to go along with her yearly anecdotes and memories, she asks everyone to forgo sending her a Christmas card back and to donate $5 (in lieu of card and stamp) to her Wheel 2 Heal fundraising. She sends the link in her card so in the holiday spirit of giving, her friends and family send her and Wheel 2 Heal some Christmas cheer. And no one ever donates just $5.
